Funding for “General R&D Projects” aims to sexpand research cooperation and cultivate collaborative teams between CUHK and CUHK(SZ), in order to achieve innovative and high-level research outcomes at the international academic frontiers and lay the foundation for undertaking major national strategic tasks.

To focus on supporting research projects in key areas including Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, Economics, Finance, and Logistics, Medicine and Life Sciences, Aerospace and Geoinformatics, New Materials, New Energy, Mathematics and Applied Mathematics, etc that are relevant to the development of strategic emerging industries in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

The funding amount will be:

(A) Each approved project receives between 1 to 3 million
(B) Support for PDFs and PhD students may be requested

Assistant Professor or above to be a Principal Investigator (PI). One from CUHK and one from CUHK(SZ).

The two PIs will collaborate to achieve a common research objective, and determine the other team members, roles, and task, based on their expertise.
