The Materials Science and Engineering programme (MASE) is intended to be forwardlooking and outward-looking. It aims to provide comprehensive education on scientific knowledge and engineering skills across multiple disciplines related to advanced materials and their innovative applications. Observing the high demand for scientists and engineers in the areas of advanced materials, the MASE major curriculum emphasizes on emerging materials with new functions, including nanomaterials, energy materials, electronic materials, smart materials, biomaterials, etc.
Students admitted will pursue the MASE offered by The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) as the first Major. They would also have the option of choosing one of the following Majors offered by either CUHK or The Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen) (CUHK(SZ)) as their second Major. Students could attend classes and participate in learning and research activities at both campuses.
Major programmes offered by CUHK:
- Electronic Engineering
- Energy and Environmental Engineering
- Mechanical and Automation Engineering
- Chemistry
- Physics
Major programmes offered by CUHK(SZ):
- Chemistry
- New Energy Science and Engineering
- Physics
- Biomedical Science and Engineering
