Organised by the Student Experience and Development Section of the Office of Student Affairs at CUHK, the CU Book Festival 2026 was successfully held from March to April 2026.
Centred on the theme “Well-read in Spring,” the festival featured a range of activities – including the Book Crossing Pavilion, Book Talks, Workshops, Film Screenings, special promotions at the University Bookstore, and an Exhibition of Good Reads at the University Library, aiming to create a strong reading atmosphere and to reflect on the value of reading.
Book Crossing Pavilion was one of the festival’s highlights. More than 2,400 CUHK students and staff participated and collected over 17,000 books. Besides, more than 40 students from CUHK(SZ) also participated in the Book Crossing Pavilion on the Shatin Campus. The event gave these pre-owned books a second life and nurtured a deeper appreciation for the circulation of knowledge on campus.
38 CUHK(SZ) staff and students also participated in the book talk “Memory, Witness, and the Reconstruction of Humanities” with around 300 CUHK students and staff. Prof. Li Ou-fan and Prof. Cheung Lik Kwan delved into how personal memory and collective witnessing can help reconstitute the humanities and provoke deep reflection for cultural studies and modern literature.
