On the evening of 9 January, 2026, the CUHK Campuses Collaboration Office (CCCO) of CUHK and CUHK(SZ), together with the Aerospace Science and Earth Informatics and X Double Major Programme (ASEI), the Interdisciplinary Data Analytics and X Double Major Programme (IDADM), and the Materials Science and Engineering Double Major Programme Office (MASE), organised a mid-year gathering for first-year students of the Collaborative Double Major Programmes (CDMP) from both the Hong Kong and Shenzhen campuses.
The event commenced with welcoming remarks from the three Programme Directors: Professor Yang Hong-feng (ASEI), Dr. Chan Chun-man (IDADM), and Professor Zhao Ni (MASE). They shared their expectations and words of encouragement for the students, kicking off the event.
This was followed by presentations from the CCCO of both campuses, introducing a range of exciting activities planned for the coming semester. These activities span social networking, personal development, and local cultural experiences, offering students diverse opportunities to enrich their university life. Students were warmly invited to participate actively.
The newly established Double Degree Student Society, “䨥曜聯輝” (Astralytics), also made its debut to share its vision and plans. Additionally, the Student Affairs Office reminded students about visa arrangements, work regulations, and scam prevention.
A highlight of the evening was the Micro-mentoring Corners. Led by staff and senior students, participants rotated through four themed stations: Academics, Campus Life, Resources, and Co-op@CUHK. The session saw enthusiastic exchange and in-depth discussions.
The event concluded with team games led by Astralytics. Centered on popular slang from Hong Kong and the Chinese Mainland, the games fostered cultural exchange and deepened mutual understanding through friendly competition.
Before closing, staff and directors invited final questions and encouraged students to use the anonymous question box for further inquiries. This gathering successfully strengthened connections among CDMP students and set a positive tone for the semester ahead.
