On 10 April, 2024, the first CUHK(SZ) World High School Leadership Conference welcomed around 30 high school and secondary education leaders from 22 overseas institutions and organisations in 8 countries to the university campus. As one of the series of events that celebrate the University’s 10th Anniversary, the Conference, which was attended by guests from Egypt, Greece, Japan, Malaysia, South Korea, Thailand, the United Arab Emirates, and Vietnam, aimed to initiate conversations and build collaborations with the distinguished overseas high schools, to attract high-quality international students, and to raise the University’s international profile.

Professor Zhu Shiping, Vice President of CUHK(SZ), gave a welcome speech. Professor Zhu introduced the University’s endeavors in the last ten years in internationalization, the core of CUHK(SZ)’s educational philosophy, in teaching, research and student support services. A bilingual campus, fully English-taught degree programmes, and a “no-more-no-less” principle in student management allow international students to quickly integrate with the campus community and develop a more in-depth understanding of Chinese culture and society. He also shared the vision and future goals of the University and welcomed students from all over the world to join the CUHK(SZ) family.

Professor Zhang Wen, Assistant Dean of the School of Management and Economics, Professor Konstantinos Courcoubetis, Presidential Chair Professor of the School of Data Science, Professor Tang Zhong, Dean of the School of Science and Engineering, Professor Huang Hsien-da, Associate Dean of the School of Medicine and Professor Duan Xiaolin of the School of Humanities and Social Science introduced their respective schools in academic programmes, research platforms, study-abroad opportunities and their students’ career and advanced study options upon graduation. The staff from Ling College, International Scholar and Student Service, and the Career Development Centre of SME also shared extensively on the Collegiate System, Whole Person Education, international student services and career prospects. Lastly, the International Undergraduate Admissions team introduced the university’s admissions policy.

In the Student Sharing Panel, six student representatives from Greece, Indonesia, Malaysia, Russia, Thailand and Vietnam shared about their life in Shenzhen and their study experience in CUHK(SZ) and interacted with the guests during the Q&A session.

During the conference, the University also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with four attending high schools.

According to the Office of Academic Links (OAL), organiser of the event, “World High School Leadership Conference” is an important university branding event that aims to build connections with the world’s top-quality secondary education institutions and organisations.

An International Undergraduate Admissions Open Day was also held along with the Conference. Some international offer holders of the 2024 Entry visited the campus together with their parents.
