A team of CUHK students participated in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Youth Social Practice Exchange Conference, held at CUHK(SZ) on 22 to 23 November, 2024. The Conference provided a platform for students from more than 20 universities in the Greater Bay Area to share their social service practices. Students were able to learn from each other and get inspiration for innovative social engagements.
On the first day, an opening ceremony, round-table forum, and debate competition were organised. Four CUHK students who participated in different Service-Learning programmes shared their reflections and learning in the round-table forum. On the second day, students exchanged their ideas with other participants on their specific topic of interest in the Open Space. For example, nutrition and health, development of organic farming, career development of university students and the topic of gender minorities were discussed in the session.
“I learnt that everyone is a contributor to our community after I saw other students’ engagement in society. Studying is our path to the future but it is not the only way in our life. The event helped us understand that all university students should have greater involvement in social engagement to contribute to our community.” Ye Xuanfei, a Year 2 student from Chinese Studies, shared in the round table forum.
