CUHK and CUHK(SZ) strengthen ties through mutual campus tours

In an effort to strengthen ties and foster collaboration between the two campuses, the CUHK Campuses Collaboration Office (CCCO) Hong Kong and Shenzhen successfully co-organised the first-ever mutual campus tours as part of their yearly initiative. These campus tours, under the spirit of “One Brand, Two Campuses,” aim to offer staff members the opportunity to experience the unique environment, facilities, and academic resources of each other’s campuses while promoting interaction and exchange between colleagues.

A milestone first tour to CUHK(SZ) – 9 July

The first tour took place on 9 July, with 50 CUHK staff members visiting CUHK(SZ). Marking a significant milestone in the ongoing partnership between the two campuses, the visit provided an in-depth look into the vibrant campus life and innovative research initiatives at CUHK(SZ). The visitors were warmly welcomed by CUHK(SZ) Vice President Mr. Yuen Kin Chung, Associate Vice President Professor Cai Xiaoqiang, Professor Huang Jianwei and other senior leaders, who introduced CUHK(SZ) to participants and shared insights into the campus’s development, achievements, and strategic goals.

The itinerary included guided visits to the University Library and various colleges, where CUHK colleagues explored the modern campus layout and state-of-the-art facilities. The guided tours allowed CUHK staff members to explore the layout and amenities of the University Library and different colleges, gaining a deeper understanding of the educational resources available. Colleagues from different units also took the opportunity to engage in lively discussions, further enriching the experience and fostering meaningful professional connections.

CUHK welcomes CUHK(SZ) staff – 27 September

On 27 September, the second mutual campus tour was hosted at CUHK, with 50 staff members from CUHK (SZ) exploring the scenic and historical CUHK campus in Hong Kong. The day began with a welcome speech by Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Chan Wai-yee, who emphasised the shared vision of ‘One Brand, Two Campuses’ and reiterated the importance of such initiatives in strengthening inter-campus relationships.

After the welcome remarks, the delegation embarked on a comprehensive tour of CUHK’s key landmarks, including the University Library, the University History Gallery, and the Art Museum. These visits offered an opportunity for CUHK(SZ) staff members to learn about CUHK’s rich history and explore its diverse academic and cultural resources. The visitors were particularly impressed by the University History Gallery’s showcase of CUHK’s contributions to education and research over the years, as well as the Art Museum’s extensive collection of cultural artefacts.

During lunch at Lee Woo Sing College’s The Harmony, staff members from both campuses shared experiences and discussed potential collaborative projects over a warm meal, creating an environment conducive to deeper professional exchange and camaraderie. The afternoon session featured a visit to Lee Woo Sing College and a tour of the School of Journalism and Communication, where guests were introduced to CUHK’s collegiate system and the cutting-edge facilities available to students. The tour concluded with a trip to the serene Pavilion of Harmony, symbolizing the unity and shared aspirations of the two campuses and with a scenic bus tour around the campus.

Looking forward

These mutual campus tours are more than just opportunities to explore physical spaces; they represent a shared journey toward greater collaboration and mutual growth. By enhancing communication and building stronger personal and professional connections, these tours lay a solid foundation for future joint initiatives between CUHK and CUHK(SZ).
