“The Voice of Campus – Singing Across China”, jointly organised by Chung Chi College, CUHK, CUHK(SZ) and Xiamen University, was successfully held. Sponsored by Qin Jia Yuan Foundation Limited and the Chinese Cultural and Alumni Networking Fund, the event aimed to promote Chinese culture by arousing emotional resonance through music, delivering positive energy, and strengthening communication among university students across China.

The cross-institutional and cross-regional singing contest lasted for several months and went through three stages: the preliminary stage, the semi-final and the final. Held on the campus of CUHK, CUHK(SZ) and Xiamen University, the preliminary stage witnessed 27 contestants advance to the semi-final, which was held on 6 July at CUHK’s Lee Hysan Concert Hall. In the semi-final, six contestants who scored the highest and second-highest from the universities they represented advanced to the final and competed for the championship on stage at TVB City.

The grand final on 7 July attracted an audience of nearly 500. That night, the six finalists gave their best performances on stage, showcasing their superb singing skills, commitment to winning and devotion to music. After two rounds of fabulous performances, Hung Sum-yee, a year-4 Music student at CUHK, who received unanimous praise from the judges for her sweet voice and delicate emotions, was crowned the champion.

After the contest, Chung Chi College, the organiser of the event, coordinated a one-day trip for all the contestants, guiding them on an in-depth tour of Hong Kong’s history and culture. This not only promoted mutual understanding and integration among the youths from Hong Kong and mainland China but also brought the whole event to a successful conclusion.
