Ling College, CUHK(SZ) is named after Ling Daoyang, one of the founders of CUHK, who is an educator, forester, and agronomist. Therefore, Ling College holds a tree planting activity annually to commemorate the spirit of Ling Daoyang.

On 12 March, 2025, two United College administrative staff and four students physically worked hard to plant the saplings together with Ling College participants. Following this, participants visited Dawan Shijü, a Hakka Enclosed Residence. Finally, Professor Lü Zongli, head of Ling College, hosted a banquet at CUHK(SZ) to express gratitude to the participants.
