The second Postgraduate Research & Learning Symposium, co-organised by the Graduate School, the Independent Learning Centre (ILC), CUHK, and the CUHK University Library, was successfully held on 24 and 25 April, 2025 at the CUHK University Library.
The event brought together more than 140 CUHK and CUHK(SZ) postgraduate students, fostering cross-campus collaboration through 12 engaging parallel sessions. Local and overseas speakers from a wide spectrum of disciplines-humanities, science, medicine, and engineering-shared insights on effectively communicating research ideas, findings, and applications to academic, industrial, and wider communities through both written and verbal means.
The event featured esteemed speakers, including Professor Anthony So, Professor Terry Yip, Dr. Sarah Webb, Dr. Clarence Wang, Dr. Luisa Sadorra, Dr. Fong Yoke Sim, Dr. Jonathan Ngai, Dr. Paula Hodgson, Dr. Yvonne Loong, Mr Paul Nerney, Ms. Susan Lopez Nerney, and Ms. Bernice Chan, who engaged participants through insightful talks and interactive Q&A sessions. Many meaningful discussions and collaborations were fostered during the coffee breaks and networking lunch during the 1.5 day Symposium.
Below are some comments from the participants when asked about the best aspects of the Symposium:
“Networking with fellow students provided valuable insights into the latest research and innovations … the interdisciplinary discussions inspired new ideas and solutions.” – CUHK student
“Meeting new people from different backgrounds, and learning more about research writing.” – CUHK(SZ) student
