On 19 September, 2025, Stanford University and the international academic publisher Elsevier jointly released the 2025 Updated Science-wide Author Database of the World’s Top 2% Scientists. CUHK(SZ) achieved record highs this year in the number of scholars listed in both the “Career-Long Impact” and “Single-Year Impact” rankings.
A total of 146 entries from the University were included in the 2025 list, marking a year-on-year increase of 34% and setting a new record. Among them, 65 scholars were named in the “Career-Long Impact” list, and 81 in the “Single-Year Impact” list, with 51 scholars appearing on both lists. Seven scholars ranked within the global top 100 in both categories: Professors Luo Zhiquan, Tang Benzhong, Wang Deliang, Chen Zizhong, Leong Frederick T. L., Hwang Kai, and Zhang Rui. The recognised scholars represent 39 sub-disciplinary fields. Notably, 57 scholars came from fields including Artificial Intelligence and Image Processing, Networking and Telecommunications, Operations Research, and Automation & Control Systems, highlight the University’s strong talent base in Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science.
