CUHK(SZ) celebrates Graduation Ceremony for Bachelor Degree Students 2026

As summer approached on the shores of Fairy Lake, more than 1,600 graduates attended CUHK(SZ)’s Graduation Ceremony for Bachelor Degree Graduates 2026.

Surrounded by family members, faculty and friends from across China and around the world, the 2026 cohort bid farewell to the Fairy Lake and stepped into the next chapter of their lives. 

University President Xu Yangsheng joined university officers and faculty members in celebrating the graduates’ achievements. Keynote speeches were delivered by Professor Dennis Y.M. Lo, Chairman of the Governing Board of CUHK(SZ), Vice-Chancellor and President of CUHK, as well as by Mr. Huang Qifan, Executive Vice Chairman of the Academic Committee of China Institute for Innovation & Development Strategy. Other members of the Governing Board were also present to witness the occasion. 

At the ceremony, 18 students received the “Presidential Awards for Outstanding Students” in recognition of their academic excellence, global outlook, leadership and commitment to social responsibility. Professor Dennis Y.M. Lo, together with Professor Xu Yangsheng, presented the awards and took commemorative photos with them.

Before the official start of the ceremony, a video for the graduating song “Thus We Move Forward” was played on the main screen. The song was written, performed and filmed by the graduating Class of 2026.

According to the statistics, nearly 85 percent of the 2026 graduating students plan to pursue further study at leading institutions worldwide, including Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Stanford University, University of Oxford, Harvard University, University of Cambridge, ETH Zurich, National University of Singapore, University of Hong Kong, Nanyang Technological University, University of Chicago, Peking University, University of Pennsylvania, Cornell University, Tsinghua University, University of California, Berkeley, Yale University, and EPFL (École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne), among others. Approximately 15 percent have chosen to enter the workforce directly, with graduates securing positions at renowned global and domestic companies, including Huawei, Tencent, Alibaba, JD.com, ByteDance, Pinduoduo, Ant Group, Lilith Games, Xiaohongshu, Procter & Gamble, Unilever, BGI, SF Express, and China Merchants Bank.
