In summer 2025, a group of CUHK students joined CUHK(SZ)’s volunteer teaching initiative, traveling to Pontianak, Indonesia, and Zunyi, Guizhou, to build meaningful connections through education.
In Pontianak, the team immersed themselves in the local Chinese community and witnessed firsthand how Chinese language education – once interrupted for over three decades – is being kept alive by dedicated teachers and enthusiastic learners. Through games, music, and creative lessons with nearly 300 local students, they helped nurture a passion for Chinese learning.
Meanwhile, at Zhejiang University Affiliated Primary School in Zunyi, CUHK students designed fun and engaging classes that blended knowledge with interactive activities, creating an unforgettable summer experience for the children. Though miles apart, both places revealed the same beauty: the curiosity of the students and the selfless passion of their educators.
This journey was more than knowledge and education, it was about connection between individuals. Through teaching, our students discovered the joy of learning and personal growth, while cultural exchange broadened their perspectives and built lasting friendships.
