The first Postgraduate Research & Learning Symposium, co-organised by the Graduate School, the CUHK Library and the Independent Learning Centre (ILC), was held successfully on 18 and 19 April, 2024 at the CUHK University Library.

The Symposium served as a platform for experienced educators and guest speakers to engage in discussions with research postgraduates and taught postgraduates from both CUHK and CUHK(SZ). Through engaging talks and parallel sessions, this event facilitated discussion, communication, and potential collaboration among postgraduates of different disciplines from Hong Kong and Shenzhen. We were honored to have esteemed speakers, including Professor Anthony So, Dr. Yoke Sim Fong, Dr. Luisa Sadorra, Dr. Paula Hodgson, Mr. Paul Nerney, Mrs. Susan Lopez-Nerney, and Ms. Bernice Chan, to share their valuable insights on communicating their research effectively through writing and oral means.

“In-person meetings provide opportunities for meeting postgraduate students from other departments and even from CUHK(SZ) (The rectangular table forced the attendees to speak with new friends).” – Feedback from a CUHK postgraduate student.
